Brynjar Kvam is a character created by Bård Ylvisåker for O-fag. Brynjar works as a newscaster on NRK. Mr. Kvam has a peculiar accent which makes it difficult for Bård to stay in character sometimes. The worst episode for him was when he was talking about the teleportation between Afganistan and Norway.

Brynjar's news often take absurd turns and sometimes Brynjar forgets that he's reading news and starts telling stories about the people in his news. Brynjar likes to read lists of things, especially when there are a lot of R's in the words. Some of the things he reports on are mountain rescue dogs, Jotunheim, missing people and teleportation.

Brynjar is a married man, his wife is called Åshild Kvam. He likes to go hunting for moose and he is really fond of jazz music he plays with a saxophone. Brynjar Kvam can speak German, Swedish and Farsi, all of which he speaks on the news. He stutters sometimes and once (according to an eyewitness report) he was kidnapped by aliens (or at least there was something green there, said the eyewitness).

He has a lot of relatives. There are three brothers that are mentioned: Vegard Kvam (the oldest brother, a pilot), Bård Kvam and a third unnamed brother, who are also all reporters. Jotunn Ingmar Eskhaug Kvam, Gustav Kvam (an acting police chief), Nils Kvam (a digital helicopter owner), Gunnar Kvam (a man from Jotunn, responsible for digital helicopters), an Afgani teleport specialist Mahmud Kvam, Terje Kvam (an acting teleport specialist), Leder Kvam (the leader of the haveri commission), Åslaug Kvam (a newscaster) Stian Kvam and Øystein Kvam (jobs not specified). Also there is a mention of a snauzer dog Rex Kvam, who was suspected of cheating after giving two positive blood/urine samples for doping.
